All that would happen is that Microsoft would integrate minecraft into all their shitty products (minus the xbox but including, and not limited to, the windows phone, surface...)

Surface is pretty sweet. If I had the money, id get one.

If it true, it would really only affect those on Sony products. Maybe Microsoft could convince notch to make 0x10c. I really wanted to see how that game turned out.

I feel like Minecraft has a lot of room for growth, and if Microsoft buys Mojang it'll stunt a lot of growth. Minecraft is already on Xbox 360 so I see no reason for Minecraft to be made Microsoft.

Microsoft could bring some much better management and cohesion to the project though. The main impediment to mojang at the moment seems to be that they dont have a clear sense of direction.

That would be the benefit of ANY big buy out, IMO. I feel Microsoft is more limiting reducing the availability of the game to certain platforms. I mean, I'm excited to see what will come of it, and I have a surface so it's nbd. I just hope they get lots of updates... and hire me.

"According to the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft may be nearing a deal to buy Mojang AB, makers of the Minecraft video game franchise. If the deal proves legitimate, it would value Mojang at more than $2 billion, and could be signed as early as this week. So far, neither Mojang AB or Microsoft have commented publicly on the situation."

Wow. If Mojang goes through with this I will lose so much respect from them. The more things like this happen the more I think all they care about is money now.

I first saw this when I woke up to go to school in the news. I was so shocked. The fact that Microsoft tries to buy Minecraft shocked me. After I saw this, I believed, in my opinion, everyone wants everything for themselves.

    Google with YouTube.
    Google with Nest...
    Microsoft with Facebook..
    And now, Microsoft with Minecraft.

It's sadly, only about the money now, instead of pure fun.
If I was Markus Perrson, I would do the exact same thing. Leave Mojang...

You'll lose respect for them for taking $2 billion? They currently have $100M in revenue and are being offered 20x as much. It would be idiotic to turn down that offer.

If I was notch I wouldnt stick around either. He can retire. Microsoft would most likely give him some ceremonial title anyways.

I'm not focusing on the money because I know that they are so humble.. I mean notch takes the train to work every day still and Jeb doesn't even have a drivers license. What I'm disappointed about is that Notch said himself he won't sell out his company to any major company no matter the price.

If you were offered 2 billion dollars for a game you created from nothing you wouldn't take it?

    Money speaks

But guys, think of the community! The community that are simultaneously self entitled pricks and super worshipful of the dev team at the same time.

I mean, why would anyone want to leave that?

My comment right now is that. "Nothing ever stays the same for ever"

Some things turn out for the better, and other things for the worse

I hope this doesn't happen as I play on Linux and really worry about future compatibility if Microstupid buys the company, Linux support would be zero because Microshaft are a bunch of close-minded jerks with terrible products. (the xbox one has done little besides annoy me since I got it. If not for halo, I'd never have bought it.)

...sorry for the rant against Microsoft, I got carried away there for a second.
